About Cardiac Nursing
Cardiac Nursing:
Patients with varied cardiovascular
problems are treated by nurses who specialize in cardiac nursing. Under the
supervision of a cardiologist, cardiac nurses assist in the treatment of
illnesses such as unstable angina, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease,
congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and cardiac dysrhythmia.
A surgical unit's postoperative care, stress test analyses,
cardiac and vascular monitoring, and health evaluations are all tasks carried
out by cardiac nurses. Cardiac nurses must be certified in both Basic and
Advanced Cardiac
Life Support. Additionally, cardiac nurses need to be skilled in administering
medications via a continuous intravenous drip, defibrillation, and ECG
monitoring. Coronary care units (CCU), cardiac catheterization, intensive care
units (ICU), operating rooms, cardiac rehabilitation facilities, clinical
research, cardiac surgery wards, cardiovascular intensive care units (CVICU),
and cardiac medical wards are just a few of the settings where cardiac nurses
work.

What Is the Role of a Cardiac Nurse?
Cardiologists
supervise cardiac nurses as they perform a variety of duties to treat both
acute and long-term heart diseases. They use devices like defibrillators for
individuals who have acute heart failures, such as heart attacks or cardiac
arrest. Heart surgery may also be assisted by cardiac nurses.
Cardiovascular nurses may monitor and evaluate heart
problems in patients with chronic illnesses. They perform or assist with a
variety of medical procedures, such as catheterization labs or advanced cardiac
life support.

Where do Cardiac
Nurses Work?
1.
ICU:-
After a cardiac arrest or heart attack,
cardiac nurses in ICU units might need to utilize a defibrillator or deliver
specific medications. They may employ catheters and balloon pumps as
intracardiac devices, along with telemetry or hemodynamic
monitoring. After procedures, patients are often recovered in cardiac ICUs.
2.
Unit for Hospital Cardiology:-
Electrocardiograms and heart rates are
monitored, medications and other treatments are given, and patients and their
families are informed about their condition.
3.
Surgical Unit in a Hospital:-
Assist the surgeon with any jobs that arise
during surgery,
help patients get ready for it, and aid in their recovery afterward.
Why work as a Cardiovascular Nurse?
If working as a cardiovascular
nurse appeals to you, make sure to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of the vocation
